Green Street is a pilot project offered to junior and senior high schools (grades 7-12) across Canada. Green Street provides teachers and students with access to high quality environmental education programs to use in and out of the classroom.

The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation is a vital and established Canadian charitable foundation, which ‘created and is funding Green Street in hopes of fostering a sense of environmental stewardship among young people across Canada.’

DC Adventure is proud to be one of the projects supported by the Green Street program, and is a great way to get your school, staff and students actively involved in making the world a better, cleaner place! It was produced by the good people at Destination Conservation (that’s where the DC in DC Adventure comes from) as a first step in getting students actively involved in shaping their planet’s future. For more information on other Destination Conservation programs, please check out the DC site at: . To register at Green Street, go to the DC Adventure site and follow the link on the front page!

What is DC Adventure you ask?

DC Adventure is divided into 5 stages:

Planning & Preparation
Base Camp

Second Camp
Summit
Descent

Top

Each stage takes a different amount of time and each stage involves a different set of talents. Your DC Adventure can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 13 weeks depending on how fast you want to reach the top. It is up to you to decide! We also provide you with lots of resources to help you through your Adventure. You can pick and choose what you want to use and what you don’t. Remember, you’re the one in charge.

Have a look at what there is at each stage and get a feel for what your Adventure could be like.

That’s the long and the short of it (kind of like a mullet). Go green and go nuts!
